Siesta Key Chamber Now On Facebook
|
The Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce is now on Facebook! While
nobody can argue that we're early adapters, we are glad to join over
500 million users, on the world's most used social network, to help
promote our members, the Chamber, Siesta Key and the Sarasota area as a
whole.
We need you to help get our fan page going! Visit the
official Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce page by clicking here
and become a fan by "liking" us and then recommend us to all of your
friends.
This is another way that the Chamber is working hard to make sure we
stay relevant and find new ways to promote our membership base.
If you don't yet have an account, head over to Facebook
and get started. Otherwise, if you have any questions contact
Kevin by calling 941.349.3800 or kevin@siestakeychamber.com.

New Artwork Arrives At The Visitors Center
|
Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce member and volunteer Shawn McLoughlin ( SiestaKeyArt.com)
has furnished new artwork for display in the Siesta Key Chamber
visitors center. Seven canvas giclees of local beaches and
birds now hang throughout the Chamber.
Shawn put together a video documenting some of the creative process and
the actual decorating of the visitors center. You can view

Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Claims Process
|
According to a recent survey
of Conde Nast readers, a group of well-informed travelers, 16 percent
believe that there was oil on the beaches on our coast. It is
still important to report any cancellations to the SCVB. If
you have received any new cancellations or have not reported in the
past, it is not too late. Click
here
to submit information on accommodation cancellations related to the oil
spill.
If you have filed a claim with BP or the new Gulf Coast Claims
Facility, the SCVB would like to know.
- Have you received payment?
- Is your claim still in the
system?
- What kind of response have
you received?
Click here to email SCVB president
Virginia Haley and share your experiences.
The Gulf Coast Claims Facility
has now taken over the BP claims process. If you have already
filed a claim, you should contact the new claims office to ensure your
claim transferred. You should be prepared to refile the
claim. For information, click here
or call 1.800.916.4893.

Vote No On 4 Campaign In High Gear
|
Citizens for Lower Taxes and a Stronger Economy is in full swing with
its campaign against Amendment 4. To date, more than 280
labor, civic, business, planning, and environmental groups oppose
Amendment 4. The group's informative web site can be viewed
by clicking here.
Amendment 4 will appear statewide on the November ballot. The
measure would require voter approval of all changes to local
comprehensive land-use plans. It would result in a massive
number of highly complex ballot items each election, each summarized in
a short, incomprehensible description on the ballot. The new
website notes that, "a recent study by Tony Villamil of the Washington
Economic Group, indicates that Amendment 4 would result in $4 billion
of lost state and local tax revenue due to forgone economic development
projects".
view a highly informative two-minute video regarding Amendment 4, and
pass it along to your friends and co-workers.
