Basics for Business Owners Seminar

On Tuesday, May 18, the Siesta Key
Chamber of Commerce will partner
with the Sarasota-Manatee Human
Resources Association to present a
seminar for small business owners
and managers.
Hosted at the Holiday Inn Express,
at 6600 South Tamiami Trail in
Sarasota, the seminar will boast a
panel of human resource experts to
discuss aspects of HR that may help
you more effectively manage your
employees and answer any HR
questions you may have.
From evaluating the effectiveness of
your recruiting and employment
processes to design and
implementation of an employee
handbook, this seminar is one of the
lowest cost options available to
help small businesses understand
employment laws and human resources
best practices.
Participation is strictly limited to
the first paid
seventeen respondents, so make sure
to reserve your spot immediately.
The event is scheduled to begin at
9:00 am, following registration at
8:30, and will conclude at 11:30 am.
Cost is $20 to Chamber members and
$25 for non-members.

Key Bungalows Location Named One of
Sarasota's 10 Most Beautiful Homes

Sarasota Magazine tapped savvy
realtors, design professionals, and
readers to nominate their favorite
Sarasota homes without taking into
account cost, age, architectural
style - or the way it looked inside.
Strictly about exterior beauty, the
result was a surprising collection
of big and small, old and new,
humble and grandiose.
One of the homes, a delightful
cottage located at 159 Island Circle
on Siesta Key, belongs to Siesta
Bungalows, a Siesta Key Chamber of
Commerce member since 2001.
The cottage reminds us of what most
of Sarasota used to look like. Today
it's a nostalgic piece of folk art,
a reminder of a simpler time and
place. One can take note of the
old-fashioned, farmhouse style
landscaping and the playful color
choices around the front door.

Port Aransas on April 9-11 and
Siesta Key resident Brian
Wigglesworth along with Bill Knight
took third place with "Iz",
a tribute to the late ukulele
musician Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, most
widely known for his rendition of
'Over the Rainbow'.
